My first exposure to needhams was in Lewiston, 1968. At 17, I learned to love them for the rest of my life. These were homemade by Lou Rod Candy on Sabatus Street. They were JUST RIGHT; a great blend of chewy and chocolatey sweet!

By the way, speaking of the Washington Post, a good friend and fraternity brother at UMO became a sportswriter there and then Editor at the BDN. Wasn't there very long.
